Families
Families in need, who are willing to partner with Habitat for Humanity and work to build their own homes, are at the heart of our mission. Here in Yolo County, three families have been selected for the current Habitat project in Woodland.
We are not currently accepting applications. Future application announcements will appear here and in the media.
How Does a Family Qualify?
A Family Selection Committee reviews all applications for a Habitat house to determine if the applicant family meets the Habitat criteria of income, need, and willingness to partner.
Each Family Helps Build
Selected families are invited to begin working toward their required 500 hours of “sweat equity,” which is the actual work of building their house alongside other Habitat volunteers. When the house is completed, the family purchases it with a zero-interest loan from Habitat for Humanity of Yolo County. Habitat Yolo sells the house at no profit, receives the monthly payments from the homeowners, and deposits them into a revolving “Fund for Humanity” to help build additional Habitat homes for families in need.
